Meet the Founder

Danielle Rickaby is an Australian glass artist known for her bright, vivacious works and intuitive approach to colour. Using traditional glassblowing and lamp working techniques, she creates sculptural objects and contemporary wearable glass pieces that bring the material into a playful, contemporary context. Rickaby completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Glass) at the University of South Australia, followed by the two-year intensive Associate program in hot glass at JamFactory. She subsequently returned to the University of South Australia to complete her Honours degree. For more than 15 years, Danielle has maintained a dynamic full-time glass practice, balancing exhibitions with the development of production collections, gaffing for artists and designers, and teaching. In 2016, she established YO-DAN and is currently Head of the Glass Studio at JamFactory. Inspired by the overlooked beauty of everyday objects, Rickaby’s work explores the intersection of utility and sentimentality. Her vibrant colour pairings and dynamic forms reflect both an instinctive approach to making and a fascination with the technical and material properties of glass.

YO-DAN’s glass designs are stylish, stunning and fun. Brilliant balance of elegance and joy! Plus, they’re high quality, I absolutely LOVE them!
